Our group recently awarded a FOVI-ANID research grant to build an international network of researchers in the field of earthquake engineering. The project aims to conduct pioneering research for earthquake risk assessment, integrating experimental data measured during previous seismic events and information generated through nonlinear finite element models, with advanced statistical techniques from the field of machine learning and probabilistic methods for uncertainty quantification and propagation.
The project is comprised of a network of Chilean researchers from the Universidad de los Andes (Rodrigo Astroza and Carla Vairetti) and the Universidad Federico Santa Maria (Ramiro Bazaez and Gaston Fermandois), along with international researchers from the University of Alberta (Dr. Yong Li), University of Exeter (Dr. Jawad Fayaz), and University of New Hampshire (Dr. Saeed Eftekhar Azam).
