The objective of this project is to scale up the structural monitoring system for wind turbines previously developed and validated at laboratory scale. In this second stage of the project, we seek to validate the monitoring system at a pilot scale and under realistic operating and environmental conditions, implementing it in a low-capacity wind turbine operating in a wind farm. First, we will optimize the instrumentation being developed for the blades. Second, different algorithms to compensate the effects of environmental and operational variables (EOV) on the modal parameters of the structural components of wind turbine blades. Finally, the updated system will be implemented on a utility scale wind turbine to be installed on an existing wind farm.
